Cole Sprouse, Michelle Yeoh, Lily-Rose Depp, James McAvoy and more passed through Cassius during TIFF 2026, helping turn the King West restaurant into one of the festival’s buzziest destinations.
Every September, Toronto’s dining scene becomes part of the TIFF experience, with restaurants across the city transforming into meeting places for talent, filmmakers, media and industry insiders. This year, Cassius found itself right in the middle of it.
The contemporary Italian restaurant at 624 King Street West served as the home of the Campari Cinema Center during TIFF week 2026, turning the space into a daytime media hub before shifting into premiere celebrations, cocktail receptions and private events at night.
And the guest list was impressive.
Cole Sprouse, Michelle Yeoh, Lily-Rose Depp, James McAvoy, Annie Murphy, Rebel Wilson, Zooey Deschanel, Josh Hartnett and Orlando Bloom were among the recognizable faces who passed through Cassius during the festival.
The restaurant also hosted a post-premiere event for The Only Living Pickpocket in New York, which brought John Turturro and Giancarlo Esposito to the King West venue.
For a restaurant still relatively new to Toronto, TIFF week offered Cassius a major moment and helped establish it as more than simply another dinner reservation on King West.
Dinner that turns into a night out
Opened in 2025 by hospitality veterans Pat Lisi and Bruno Commodari, Cassius was created as a contemporary Italian restaurant and supper club, bringing together dinner, cocktails, music and nightlife under one roof.
The room is polished and dramatic, with chrome, leather, mirrored details and moody lighting creating an atmosphere that feels equally suited to dinner, cocktails or a late night out.
As the evening progresses, Cassius takes on more of a nightlife feel, with DJs, dancing and bottle service available on select nights. Dinner can easily transition into a full night out without leaving the venue, something that feels particularly at home on King West.
We’ve dined at Cassius ourselves, and there were several dishes and cocktails that stood out.
The calamari is an easy place to start, with a light, crispy texture that makes it ideal for sharing. The beef tartare was another favourite, while the Tagliatelle Burro & Tartufo is the pasta pick, bringing together butter, truffle and fresh pasta in a rich, indulgent dish.
Cassius also puts plenty of attention into its cocktail program. The Espresso Martini is an easy recommendation, particularly if dinner is only the beginning of the evening, while the Paloma d’Oro offers something brighter and refreshing to start the night.
Together, the food, cocktails and atmosphere make Cassius particularly well suited to date nights, group dinners and occasions when you want the evening to extend beyond the meal itself.
An Italian Riviera-inspired patio on King West
Cassius added another dimension to the restaurant this summer with the launch of its Italian Riviera-inspired patio.
The space features checkered flooring, a statement marble bar, lush greenery, lounge seating, ambient lighting and an immersive sound system, creating a lighter counterpart to the moodier dining room inside.
The patio is designed to move from leisurely lunches and aperitivo hours into dinner and late-night cocktails.
It also introduced Dopolavoro, Cassius’ reinterpretation of the Italian aperitivo tradition. Rather than focusing on a typical happy hour, the concept is built around drinks, small plates and letting one cocktail naturally turn into dinner.
For warmer Toronto evenings, the patio gives Cassius another reason to settle in and stay awhile.
A destination for private events
TIFF week also highlighted another side of Cassius: the space is well suited to events.
Beyond its regular dinner service and nightlife programming, the restaurant can host private dinners, cocktail receptions, corporate gatherings, birthdays, brand activations and other private events, along with VIP experiences and bottle service.
Its TIFF week run offered a large-scale showcase of that versatility, moving between media interviews, hospitality programming, receptions and celebrity-heavy evening events within the same venue.
For brands, companies or groups looking for a downtown Toronto space that combines dining, cocktails and nightlife energy, Cassius offers plenty of flexibility.
Cassius has found its place on King West
Cassius feels most at home as an all-evening destination. From dinner and cocktails to DJs, dancing and bottle service later in the night, its supper-club format gives it an identity that extends beyond the meal itself.
And after becoming a hub for some of TIFF 2026’s biggest names, the King West restaurant has clearly carved out a place for itself on Toronto’s dining and entertainment scene.
