The St. Regis Toronto hotel, used to be known as the Trump International Hotel & Tower–until 2017 happened. By 2018 we were fully rid of the Trump name, and Marriott International kicked in with its St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand. We checked out what kind of swag the new St. Regis had to offer, and we’ve got all the details.

The Location

The great thing about The St. Regis is its location. At the corner of Bay and Adelaide, you’ll find the tall hotel building towering above the rest of the city. With everything from the CN Tower to Scotiabank Arena and Ripley’s Aquarium, you’ll have lots to do and see in and around Toronto. Explore the best of Toronto’s city nightlife and buzzing tourist attractions.

The rooms are cleanly decorated and maintain sleek and white edges and accents. While it is still reminiscent of its Trump International Hotel & Tower days, there is a slight re-vamping that’s been done. The hotel decor is scarce but does pop with certain accent pieces like the painting above the bed in our one-bedroom suite. We also had a beautiful king-sized bed that made for a relaxing night’s sleep.

The all-white marble bathroom with a rain shower head and bathtub was a real standout. It had top of the line amenities and high-end toiletries provided for you. It’s a really great space to take a moment for yourself before heading into the ever-evolving Toronto downtown hub.

The Amenities

The hotel indoor pool and hot tub were a great space to unwind for a few minutes. You could definitely even get in a few laps at the pool if you’re looking to grab a swim workout.

The St. Regis does offer a really cool butler service included in the price of your room, but we had a few issues with it. First, we didn’t find out there was a butler service at check-in, and then we weren’t clear on what exactly they offered. When we called them to help get the room service set up and put together, we were told to call room service directly. There definitely needs to be a bit more communication between staff and clarity on duties. The hotel services felt in their preliminary stages because of this.

We also tested out the morning room service, and this was definitely another highlight of our stay. The breakfast room service was delicious, plentiful, and gave back a bit of that luxury feel to The St. Regis brand. Unfortunately, our experience with the breakfast room service was a little tainted by the confusion with the butler service. The food, though, saves the day on this one.

The Restaurants

The highlight of our St. Regis stay was definitely the Louix Louis restaurant. With a grand bar that has every drink you could think of and a friendly waitstaff, they’re definitely doing something right with this restaurant. The food here was also stellar and made for a really enjoyable experience. A lot of Toronto locals come in off the street just for a spot at Louix Louis for the night, so you know it’s a great place to get some food.

St. Regis also has a lobby lounge called Astor Lounge which gives you a refined and classy atmosphere that is still relaxed with smaller drink and snack options.

The Standout Feature

The best thing about the St. Regis is definitely its downtown location. If you’re only in Toronto for a couple of days or just stopping by for business, then their location is hard to beat.

My personal standout feature was definitely the experience at Louix Louis. Even if you don’t stay the night at the St. Regis, I would definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant. It has a great buzzing night scene that maintains the luxuriousness of the St. Regis brand.

Whether you’re a busy traveler or an even busier professional stopping over in Toronto, The St. Regis gives you the heart of Toronto life. They still have a ways to go in moving towards their St. Regis counterparts across the world, but slowly they’ll catch up to expectations that the name perpetuates.
