Neymar- Is the PSG dream over

Neymar is a household name across the world and is a player of huge talent since he was spotted in Brazil playing for Santos. However, it looks like he is ready to call it quits in France in favour of move elsewhere and PSG are reportedly willing to accept just £75 million.

Neymar arrival

Neymar arrived in the French capital city for a world record fee that blew the previous world record fee of £89 million (Paul Pogba to Manchester United) out of the water. Over double the amount was paid for the tricky Brazilian, £198 million (€222 million), meanwhile we are looking at the FX trading platforms to make some more money.

His time has been slightly rocky with PSG, despite winning the league four times with the most recent coming this season. He was pictured not joining in the celebrations during the Trophee des Champions win in 2019 and then pushed out by Kylian Mbappe; after Neymar was dragged into join celebrations…awkward. He was also not present at the Monaco title deciding game in 2018 and was rightly slammed by former France World Cup winner Christophe Dugarry.

There is a clear ego complex with the former Barcelona man and one that some teammates will not stand for as they feel Neymar receives special treatment over other players. Some are even calling it Neymarism.

Do Neymar and PSG really fit?

Neymar has declared many a time that he is unhappy in France and even wanted a return to his former club Barcelona. He was very adamant that a return would happen in the summer of 2019 and made his discontent well known to the media. However, Barcelona were more interested in French forward Antoine Griezmann and priortised the signing over their former player.

There is no doubting that the ability is still there with the 30 year old and linking up with Lionel Messi once again has  brought some joy to the Brazilian. However, with 38 games available in the league Neymar has played in just 20 of them.

However, his form since the start of March has been scintillating as he has seven goals and three assists in the league. He even won man of the match in the vital title game against Marseille.

Could it be over?

It is well know that PSG will facilitate their players’ happiness over their manager’s. Mauricio Pochettino could be on the look out for a change in the way PSG approach things as they still look for that elusive Champions League.

However, could Neymar outlive Pochettino? With reports PSG could be looking to Tottenham again and want to bring in Antonio Conte, Neymar may yet have a future with PSG and is still contracted for three more years but many do not believe this is the best for the club.

PSG could offload him in an attempt to rebuild a harmonious squad and fan base with issues growing in many ranks of the PSG fan base as they booed the names of Messi and Neymar just weeks before following the Champions League exit.

Neymar. A magician and could be about to disappear from French football.
