From those crazy kids of Stranger Things fame to everyone’s favourite space doctor, these are the looks that mattered most.
- Mahershala Ali: Not since Harrison Ford kicked waiter ass in the opening scene of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has a man rocked a white tux with such aplomb. Moonlight’s star stood resplendent in a perfectly-tailored Zegna Couture number, contrasted with a slick black bow tie.
- Ryan Gosling: We’d be remiss to leave out one of our own, but then again, Mr. Gosling always makes these lists. This is because he is a master of the blue suit game. And he seldom departs from a contrasting shawl collar, a detail you should try if you haven’t. Give Gucci credit for this one.
- James Marsden: Aside from defying the process of aging, Cyclops showed us that uniformity isn’t mandatory at a black tie party; The Westworld star owned in an exquisite, blue dinner jacket, then broke things up with a pair of black trousers (both by Valentino). But don’t think that subtle, floral lapel pin and those sexy Louboutin shoes had nothing to do with it.
- Matt Smith: The eleventh dude to play a time traveling time lord in BBC’s Doctor Who took a risk, and it paid off; Where most actors went with the usual one-button, shawl collar thing, Smith opted for irreverence with a black, double-breasted tux by Ermenegildo Zegna.
The kids from Netflix’s Stranger Things: One men’s style site whose name we won’t mention declared all of these looks unsuitable for adult men. But if you ask us, Caleb McLaughlin’s bespoke grey pinstripe tux would look just as good on the right kind of guy. But steer clear of brightly coloured sneakers for these kinds of things. They work on Noah Schnapp because he’s a kid. But they won’t work on you.
