Feeling Too Old to Swagger? Get your confidence back with these anti-aging treatments.

Men, it’s okay to feel insecure about aging, and it isn’t because there’s anything wrong with looking distinguished. Fine lines, crow’s feet, and a sagging neck affect us all; it’s all about how you feel about yourself that matters. If that’s the case, why should men care about skincare?

Why Men Should Use Skincare Products

Your skin is the largest organ in the human body, and like all organs, it needs a fair amount of nutrients to stay healthy. To prevent acne, liver spots, and rosacea, which are common signs of poor skin health, men should use customized anti-aging treatments that protect their skin.

Let’s face it, most men barely wash their face, let alone wear sunscreen to prevent skin cancer, but prevention is easier than correction. Yes, even if you’re already showing signs of aging.

Aging isn’t fun, regardless of gender. When you look in the mirror and don’t see the same face looking back at you from 10 years ago, it’s shocking and can severely affect your confidence. However, it’s never too late to start a good habit, especially when it comes to your health.

Anti-Aging Treatments We Recommend

Skincare doesn’t have to be difficult, and it’s way better if it isn’t. If you’re looking to get your swagger back, try out the following dermatologist-recommended anti-aging treatments.

Grow a Beard

The neck is one of the first signs of aging in men. Growing a beard will immediately hide a sagging jaw. If you decide to grow a beard, make sure it’s well-groomed, shampooed (with beard shampoo), and oiled. A scraggly beard will make you look much older than your neck.

If you’re not a beard guy, that’s fine! You can use anything meant for your face on your neck, so any routine that recommends a serum or exfoliating face product will work for both.

No Bar Soap

Men who do wash their face will typically use bar soap, but you’re drying out your face and stripping it of nutrients. Instead, pick a cleanser meant for your face. Your morning and nightly skincare routine should include a pea-size amount of paraben and a dye-free facial cleanser.

After adding your cleanser, grab a micro-exfoliant and rub it on your face once-twice a week. Exfoliators will help with in-grown hairs, a dull complexion, and remove dead skin cells.

Get a Serum

A serum is like a moisturizer, but it’s more condensed and filled with more nutrients. Serums are specifically designed to fight dark spots, fine lines, and wrinkles before they start. Still, if you’re already experiencing signs of aging, serums will cut down on their appearance.

When looking for a serum, get one that has vitamin C for brightening and toning. Put the serum on immediately after washing your face and exfoliating your skin (done weekly).

Face and Body Moisturizer

Studies estimate that 80% of all visible signs of aging are due to UV light exposure, aka the sun. That doesn’t mean you have to avoid the sun or wear a comically large sunhat. As long as you apply alcohol-free SPF 30+ moisturizer (and reapply it every hour), you’ll protect your skin.

If you have short hair, don’t forget to apply moisturizer on your neck, ears, and scalp if you have an army cut. Get an SPF moisturizer for your body. It’ll help keep your skin firm.

Focus on the Eyes

It’s pretty common for men to complain about the dark circles under their eyes. While yes, getting more sleep, drinking enough water, and eating well will help, puffiness, wrinkles, and dark circles will get worse with age. You’ll need eye cream to help slow down the inevitable.

Since the skin near your eyes is thinner than on the rest of your face, you can’t use a traditional moisturizer. When adding the product, don’t drag your finger. Tap it on with your index finger.
