We’re getting a closer look at DC Studios’ Clayface ahead of its theatrical release this October, with two new behind-the-scenes photos from Warner Bros. taking us onto the set.
The first shows Tom Rhys Harries, who stars as Matt Hagen, alongside director James Watkins during production. It’s a small glimpse into the making of the film, but one that already feels more intimate than the typical superhero set photo.
Clayface is taking one of Gotham’s best-known villains in a decidedly darker direction. The film follows Hagen from his beginnings as a Gotham street kid to a rising Hollywood star, before a brutal attack leaves him disfigured and his career seemingly over.
Desperate to get his old life back, Hagen turns to an experimental treatment that restores his appearance, but comes with consequences of its own. As his grip on reality begins to unravel, the story moves into darker psychological and body-horror territory.
A second photo gives us a solo look at Harries on set as Hagen.
Watkins directs from a screenplay by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, with a cast that also includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James.
The film also brings together an impressive team behind the camera, including cinematographer Rob Hardy, production designer James Price, costume designer Keith Madden and composer Volker Bertelmann.
There’s still plenty being kept under wraps, but the new set photos offer a first taste of the mood surrounding this version of Matt Hagen’s story.
Clayface opens exclusively in theatres in North America on October 23, 2026.
