There is usually a trade-off when it comes to storage beds.
You get the extra space underneath, but you also get a piece of furniture that looks decidedly practical.
Endy’s new Upholstered Storage Bed doesn’t really have that problem.
The Canadian sleep brand recently introduced its first bed frame with built-in storage, taking the upholstered look already found across its furniture collection and adding a pull-out drawer beneath the frame.
We recently put one together, and before getting to the storage itself, there’s something worth mentioning: this bed is incredibly easy to build.
Furniture assembly can go downhill quickly, particularly when drawers or moving parts are involved. We were prepared for this one to take some time. It didn’t. The frame came together easily, the instructions were straightforward and there was very little fuss involved from start to finish.
For a substantial upholstered frame with storage built into it, that was a pleasant surprise. Once assembled, it also looks much more expensive than it is.
The Alabaster fabric gives it a clean, neutral look, while the channelled headboard adds enough detail that the bed doesn’t disappear into the room. Endy has been particularly good at this with its furniture. The brand’s bed frames tend to act as statement pieces without being overly designed, and the Storage Bed follows the same formula.
The drawer itself is tucked beneath the bed and pulls out smoothly from the foot of the frame. It’s a useful spot for extra bedding, blankets, seasonal clothing or anything else that inevitably starts taking over a bedroom closet.
It’s also worth noting that the drawer does not take up the entire area beneath the bed.
That initially caught our attention because, looking at a storage bed, you might assume almost the full footprint underneath is available. Here, the actual drawer is smaller. But after using it, the decision makes sense. It still gives you a useful amount of storage, while remaining easy to pull out and put away.
Endy lists the capacity at up to 5.6 cubic feet, with the drawer designed to hold up to 55 pounds. That’s more than enough for extra linens, pillows or a decent amount of off-season clothing.
More importantly, the storage doesn’t dictate the way the bed looks. With the drawer closed, there is nothing particularly utilitarian about it. You’re left with a low-profile upholstered frame and a tall, softly padded headboard that would work just as easily in a condo bedroom as it would in a larger space.
Earlier this year, SWAGGER visited Endy’s Canadian manufacturing facility and got a closer look at how the brand’s products come together, including its Hybrid Mattress. What stood out then was the attention to construction and materials, and that same focus carries over here.
The Storage Bed is available in three sizes: Full for $975 CAD, Queen for $995 CAD and King for $1,145 CAD. No box spring is required, and the frame comes with Endy’s 30-night trial and one-year limited warranty.
There are storage beds with larger compartments underneath, and there are certainly cheaper bed frames. But for the quality, design and added storage, Endy has put together a strong option here.
And after building it ourselves, the ease of assembly remains one of the biggest selling points.
