New Year, new you, eh? Well, here at Car Finance Genie, we’re going to suggest something slightly different: New Year, new car. January 2022 has so far seen all the greyness, drizzle and even snow that we know and… don’t love at this time of year. However, it’s at least given many of us a chance to stay indoors, browsing the online rumour pages about upcoming car models.

So, for today’s blog post, we thought we’d spotlight just three of the vehicles set for a 2022 debut, that we reckon you should be getting hyped up about – whether or not you also apply for a great deal from our car finance specialists in Essex this year.

ORA Cat

You were expecting us to fill this list with unattainable supercars, weren’t you? Nope, we’re starting with an electric vehicle (EV) – and not only that, but also a model expected to be among the cheapest EVs that will go on sale in the UK this year.

As Autocar reported a few months ago, the ORA Cat is a supermini from the ORA sub-brand of the Chinese automotive giant, Great Wall Motors (GWM).

The Cat has been around in its homeland since 2018, but it’s set to give the likes of the Volkswagen ID.3 and the Renault ZOE something to think about, with some very eye-catching stats. Not only is its maximum range of 261 miles more than twice that offered by the Mazda MX-30 at a similar price point, but the price in question for the ORA Cat should be as little as £25,000 in the UK. It comes with a combined charging system – the top section is for charging at home or on the street on an AC current and the bottom section is for rapid charging the vehicle using a DC current.’

Ferrari Purosangue

Well, we were always going to include an offering from the Prancing Horse in a rundown of new cars to get excited about, weren’t we? And the Purosangue – or whatever name it ends up having, given some legal wrangles that have broken out over the moniker – will be far from ‘just another’ Ferrari, if there could ever be such a thing.

Yes, we are talking about – in effect – Ferrari’s first SUV when it finally breaks cover. Mind you, they aren’t great fans of that acronym at Maranello, executives there having instead supposedly used the term ‘Ferrari Utility Vehicle’, or FUV.

Whatever – the Purosangue looks set to be an ultra-performance FUV, or SUV, worth waiting for. Car magazine’s sources have claimed that this four-door crossover will showcase the kind of sporting prowess one always expects from Ferrari, being “more based on dynamics than rock-crawling.”

Volkswagen ID. Buzz

Can we get away with including a… van on our list of upcoming cars that should be causing you some excitement right now? We’re going to ‘go there’; after all, with its styling clearly evoking the classic Type 2 or ‘Camper’, the ID. Buzz is already hugely anticipated by many.

But the ID. Buzz is also far from merely a great-looking thing. Its promised battery capabilities of up to 111kWh, and a claimed range of more than 340 miles – not to mention obviously enough space and seating to accommodate a whole family in comfort – suggest that it could represent the ultimate in EV practicality.

Three cars, all different in nature, but also all demonstrating that 2022 could be more than a ‘year to watch’ when it comes to all things automotive. But if you can’t wait and need to find finance for a new set of wheels right now, why not apply through the Car Finance Genie team today?
