Valentine’s Day is not without its difficulties. While the romance, sweetness, and bold gestures are all well and good, you’re expected to be on your A-game — and it’s not always easy. Your partner wants to feel special, and if you fail to deliver, you risk disappointing them.

Even if they say it isn’t necessary, you must have a plan up your sleeve — something that’s sure to blow them away. That means organizing an incredible date, and the last thing it should be is predictable.

So, to help you out, here are three out-of-the-box ideas to woo that special someone.

Plan a game’s night with a twist

Valentine’s Day is a chance to celebrate the one you love and to remind yourselves why you’re good together. As well as being romantic, it should be fun. There are many types of games you can enjoy with just two players, and StyleCraze has a list of some that are the perfect way to spice things up.

There are lots of options. You could get up close and personal with games involving physical skill, or host an at-home experience with a round of Buzz Bingo. There are even special Valentine’s-themed bingo rooms to choose from to make it fit the occasion. Incorporate as many or as few games as you like, but however you decide to do it, make sure there are some exciting forfeits involved.

These could range from a relaxing massage for the winner to a day of being treated like a god or goddess and having your (or their) every wish obeyed. This is a great chance to spend time together with lots of laughs guaranteed.

Pick a romantic picnic spot

Valentine’s is a day when you should expect the unexpected. We all want to be wowed by our partners, and it’s down to you to make it happen. There are so many beautiful places to choose from, and you can make sure you pick somewhere with emergency shelter (like a bandstand) in case the weather takes a turn for the worst.

Be sure to pack all of your partner’s favorite foods, along with romantic staples like champagne and strawberries. You might want to take some extra blankets for wrapping up or see if there’s anywhere you can build a fire. Picnic Lifestyle has some great ideas on how to do it.

Take a trip to the zoo

Going back to the idea of doing something enjoyable, why not plan an exciting day trip? It’s romantic because of the amount of thought you’ll put into it and also because it’s unlikely anyone else will be celebrating the same way.

Your local zoo or safari park is the perfect place to go and is fun, irrespective of the weather. If there’s nowhere nearby, make the trip part of the adventure. See if there are any picturesque spots to stop off at on the way or if you’ll be passing any nice places to eat. This way, the exotic animals you see will simply be the icing on an already delicious cake.

How will you choose to treat your partner this Valentine’s Day?
