The 2021 Kentucky Derby’s Kickstarter is the race prep this March. The prep will lead to the most-awaited Kentucky Derby on May 1. Meanwhile, horse racing enthusiasts and bettors are excited to know who will win this year’s race.

Leading in the betting favorites are Caddo River, Essential Quality, Life is Good, Greatest Honour, and Concert Tour. The biggest factors that affected the odds are the previous performance of these horses and their current training.

Winner predictions

As mentioned, the biggest factors that affect the predictions are the horses’ previous performances, which includes their improvement and previous awards, and their current training, including their trainers and their jockeys.

1. Caddo River

Caddo River is a three-year-old colt owned by Shortleaf Stable, Inc and trained by Brad Cox. His latest win was in the Smarty Jones Stakes on dirt by 10 ¼ lengths. He also won the Maiden Special Weight last November.

In his first two races, he finished second. His best asset is his natural speed, which was the driving force to his latest two wins that were consistent from start to finish. It is also a good sign that he relaxes and settles well in front when racing.

2. Essential Quality

Essential Quality is a gray-colored colt. He is owned by Godolphin, trained by Brad Cox, and jockeyed by Luis Saez. He won the 2021 Southwest Stakes after winning the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile with a 3 ¼-length victory. It is also worthy to note that Essential Quality is undefeated.

This three-year-old has only been seen as in his best shape and performance on all four assignments. His speed is something that his trainer is proud of. He is also seen to thrive more with more distance.

 3. Life is Good

Life is Good is a bay-colored colt trained by the well-known trainer Bob Baffert. He won his maiden debut last November and subsequently won two races, The Sham Stakes and San Felipe Stakes.

His performance in the San Felipe Stakes impressed Baffert, complimenting him that his talent is raw since day one. Life is Good is unbeaten in all his three starts. This makes him a fan favorite.

  4. Greatest Honour

Greatest Honour is a three-year-old colt owned by Courtland Farms and trained by Shug McGaughey. He won the Fountain of Youth Stakes in February and Holy Bulls Stakes last January.

His recent Gulfstream Park’s Fountain of Youth win is his third straight win. He was almost at the last place out of 10 horses. However, he was quick to get out of that situation and blew past the leading horse by going away by 1 ½ length.

5. Concert Tour

Concert Tour is also another fan favorite. He has won both starts of his career. On his first win, he achieved a 100 Equibase Speed Figure and 106 figure on his second win at the San Vicente Stakes.

He has an amazing pedigree being the son of Street Sense out of Tapit mare. The sons of Street Sense have made a big impact in three-year-old races in the past. His trainer, Bob Baffert, has 33 out of 95 horses who won the dirt route as three-year-olds.
