CookUnity, the only chef-led premium food delivery service, officially launched in Canada May 22, with deliveries beginning Sunday, June 1.
CookUnity’s ethos is to bring restaurant-calibre meals straight to your door from top chefs.
A recent media tasting took place in Yorkville at Salon Alo featuring a multi-course, multi-chef curated menu that showcases CookUnity’s bold flavours and culinary creativity. Guest chefs at the big event included Patrick Kriss from Alo with his famous ribs; Sand Tsoi from Baan Thai Family who made Laab Tad Balls, chicken satays and mini spring rolls; Dadrian Coke from Chubby’s Jamaican Kitchen. Trevor Lui came in from Highball Hospitality Group and made braised pork belly bao with pickles and crushed peanuts, and a curry chicken wedge. Tsoi Coke made Jamaica pepper shrimp tartine.
Founded in 2015 in Brooklyn, New York, CookUnity was born from the idea of making gourmet meals crafted by independent chefs available to busy individuals who crave variety and quality but lack the time to cook or dine out regularly. The founders recognized the limitations of traditional meal kits and delivery services, which often lacked the creativity and expertise of professional chefs. By creating a platform where chefs could directly reach customers, CookUnity enabled culinary talent to flourish outside the confines of traditional restaurants.
Over the years, CookUnity has achieved remarkable success and rapid expansion. What began as a small operation has grown into a nationwide service, with the company now reaching 97% of the United States through seven regional commissary kitchens. Its network includes hundreds of chefs, many of whom have impressive backgrounds in top restaurants or as culinary entrepreneurs.
The company’s unique model allows chefs to earn significant income, with the average chef making $750,000 a year and top earners bringing in over $5 million annually.
What sets CookUnity apart is its extensive and ever-changing menu, which features over 300 rotating dishes that cater to a wide range of tastes and dietary preferences, including vegan, gluten-free, keto, and paleo options. Customers can select flexible meal plans, choosing anywhere from four to sixteen meals per week, and can either handpick their meals or let CookUnity recommend selections based on their preferences.
The meals arrive fresh, never frozen, in eco-friendly packaging, and are ready to heat and enjoy with minimal effort. CookUnity places a strong emphasis on using high-quality, locally sourced ingredients and prioritizes sustainability in its operations, making it a favorite among health-conscious and environmentally aware consumers.
The service has received glowing testimonials from both customers and industry experts. Food & Wine has praised CookUnity for delivering “restaurant-style, gourmet meals right to your door,” while a Healthline dietitian tester described the meals as consistently fresh, flavorful, and truly restaurant-quality.
Although some users have mentioned concerns about portion sizes and pricing, the overall feedback highlights the convenience, taste, and variety that CookUnity brings to the table. In essence, CookUnity has redefined meal delivery by bridging the gap between talented chefs and food lovers, offering a unique and high-quality dining experience that continues to win fans across North America.
