The home is the one place where you can escape from real life and retreat back into your personal sanctuary.

This space should insulate you from the various trials and tribulations that life has a habit of throwing at you so that you can recharge your batteries and regain a more positive outlook on lids before standing tall and heading back out again. But if your home isn’t set up the right way, it can hinder your ability to regain energy and, in some situations, cause more stress than before. We have assembled a team of experts to give you the lowdown on what it means to create a house capable of transforming your life in order to move you towards a more positive frame of mind. From crafting a space where you can unwind and restore your equilibrium to simpler things like a reading nook that can help clear your mind and transfer you to a place more conducive to happiness, the options are limitless.

Construct A Backyard Meditation Spot

Jerry Peed, Gardening and Outdoor Decor Expert from hpotter.com

If there is one surefire way to rescue stress and help you retain control of your mental faculties, it’s practicing meditation. Deep down, everyone knows this to be true, but unfortunately, too many people eschew the idea of medication as something too complicated to get into (it really isn’t) or can’t image where they might practice it. Regarding the former point, getting into a groove whereby you make the time each day to practice a little mindfulness is far easier than you think, but it does take discipline and consistency to get to a position where it actually makes a difference. When it comes to the later point about not being sure where to actually practice, the answer is as clear as day…head outside into your personal bit of nature and sit among the world. Part of meditating is getting to a stage where you can ignore all external influences on your thoughts, look inward at yourself, and eventually find some semblance of peace. This can be tricky when just starting out, but with enough practice, anyone can achieve peace.

When it comes to actually making your brand new medication spot, there are a few things that could help expedite the process and get you on your way to Nirvana faster than you might have thought possible (it’s not really about how fast you achieve peace, but you get the idea!) Firstly, you might consider incorporating a water feature to emit a gentle steam of water that burbles its way from the water source up to the fountain and eventually finds its way back to the source once more. The soothing sound can help to put your mind at ease and enable you to put more of your focus into the act of meditation rather than trying to drown out the general sounds of life.

Aside from water, you might consider crafting a designated area where you can head out each day, morning or night, to practice your new discipline. By doing so, you will make it far more likely that you will participate regularly enough for the process to make a difference in your life. While you can go as crazy or minimalist as you like, it is generally recommended to err on the side of minimalist to avoid overstimulating your mind before you attempt to enter a calmer state.

Transform Spare Space Into A Fitness Haven

William Parrett, Director, Home Gym Supply

Our health is what makes the difference between looking and feeling amazing or feeling sluggish and unable to achieve the goal you have set for your life. The problem is that most of us simply don’t have the time, predilection, or disposable income lying around to spend an hour every other day driving from work to the gym and then back home again. In fact, by the time you get home after working out, it will likely be late evening, and you will have missed out on the most valuable moments of family life. Instead, you can always invest a little money each month from your paycheck in making your very own home gym. The best part is that you needn’t spend a fortune on the large pieces of equipment you often see in most professional gyms. You can begin with a few free weights and work your way up from there. By setting one up inside your own home (typically the garage), you will have more time to actually work out without having to sacrifice time and money that could be better spent on enjoying time with your family.

Additionally, when the seasons change and summer descends into the raw kind of winter that chills you through to the bone, you will be more inclined to continue your pursuit of good health rather than choosing to skip it. As already mentioned, you can start out as small as you lie, and once you get the feeling that you want to move up, spend a little extra on items that will complement your fitness goals. For example, if you are seeking larger muscles, you can invest in heavier weights as you progress (just make sure you can lift safely before increasing because there is no one to spot you in a home gym). Conversely, if aerobic prowess is more your bag, purchasing a few machines that enable you to work your cardiovascular system may be money well spent. If you don’t have much money to invest but want a good overall workout, options like a rowing machine could very well meet your requirements. The idea is to create a space that will provide you with the motivation needed to get fit and healthy on your own terms.

Design A Cozy Reading Nook

Dr. Laila Kaikavoosi, Founder & Clinical Director at Online Menopause Centre

We all have those days when we simply don’t want to leave the house and see people and instead would rather crawl into a safe space and be with our thoughts. This is perfectly natural and nothing to be ashamed of. However, if you want to do it properly, you might want to think of creating a small reading nook where you can truly escape from the real world and transcend into whatever world of fiction you might be reading at any given time. A reading nook is perhaps one of the easiest adjustments you can make to your home because it really doesn’t involve much work. The first step is finding a space that will work best. This could be a corner of a particular room or even just throwing a few cushions and blankets into a bay window where you can bathe in the natural light of the outside world without actually having to go outside! How you decorate it is entirely up to you; you can go as crazy or as basic as you like.

Turning your home into a space where you can feel yourself, enjoy being in, and genuinely enhance yourself need not be an insurmountable task. Whether you seek inner peace and choose to craft an outdoor space dedicated to meditation, want to get healthier and invest in a home gym, or merely want to have an area to curl up in with a good book, the sky is the limit, and it is only limited by your imagination.
