Owning a luxury car is something many of us dream of, and only a few have the privilege of experiencing. A route to finally owning your ultimate vehicle, is by entering car competitions.

We’ve gathered some top tips to help you enter and increase your chances of winning a dream car prize.

1. Know where and when to enter

Driving around in your ideal car could become reality if you know where to look and how to enter. There are plenty of competitions out there, but if it’s a brand spanking new set of wheels that you’re after, Best of the Best is a great place to start. BOTB specialize in UK car competitions and have been around for a while, they started their journey at UK airports, giving beautiful cars away as prizes to the lucky winners. They now offer three competitions online that you can enter: Dream Car, Midweek Car and Lifestyle. It’s a great idea to bookmark the site so you can easily return and enter when new prizes launch.

2. Understand the rules

Different competitions have different entry requirements. Some might simply require an email or phone number, others might require a more elaborate entry such as a video or creative submission. The more elaborate entry requirements often receive lesser entrants, so it’s worth bearing that in mind. These are also great opportunities to have some fun with your entry, and really put some effort in to try and get your submission noticed. Other competitions might have a skill based game to determine a winner. BOTB uses Spot the Ball to identify its winners, a skill game that means the winner isn’t just selected at random, rather by skill and judgment to decide where the entrant  thinks the center of the ball should be.

3. Keep your options open

Maybe you’d love to win a classic car, or you have your heart set on a shiny new Lamborghini. Either way, you’re better off entering competitions that offer car prizes you might not usually be tempted by, as more often than not you can opt for a cash prize instead should you win – and then you can spend that cash on your dream car! Best of the Best are a perfect example, and will often provide a cash alternative to the car prize should you win.

4. Check competition legitimacy

Just like purchasing a product or dealing with any business, you want to make sure who you’re dealing with is legitimate. This is also applicable with competition providers, too. Most competitions will require you to part ways with some personal details, such as your email, contact information and other data. Especially when applying online, you’ll want to be sure your information is being handled legally and fairly. The Best of the Best is a great example of an trustworthy competition provider. Another way to spot that the competition provider is legitimate, is to check there are terms and conditions – if a company is promoting a competition and no T&Cs are there, it’s usually an obvious indication the competition is not legit. It’s crucial to keep an eye out for these signs to ensure you and your personal data are kept safe and secure.

5. Set reminders

If you’re serious about winning a car and want to embrace the comping world: set reminders. This may sound excessive, but it will really help get into the rhythm of entering competitions and increasing your chances of winning that prize. Check the times and dates of competition launches and set a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget to submit your entry.

6. Be smart with your email

It can be easy to miss an important email, especially with the amount of spam out there filling up our inboxes. The last thing you want to happen is to miss out on a prize because of a missed email. To help you identify those crucial emails, you can set up ‘rules’ in your email folder to automatically filter certain phrases such as ‘congratulations’ or ‘you’re a winner’. These emails will then be automatically moved into a specific folder you can set up (prizes, maybe?). You can do this by checking out the ‘options’ or ‘tools’ section of your email account, and selecting ‘create rule’.

So there you have it, some top tips for entering car competitions. While we can advise on ways to maximise your chances, it more often than not ultimately comes down to the luck of the draw. Remember to have fun with it, and we wish you all the luck that you’ll be driving off in your dream motor in no time!
