The Practical & Stylish Water Shoes that Everyone Should Own

It’s technically Spring where the sun is warmer and the days are longer, despite what the recent weather in our North-Eastern neighborhoods may suggest. This is the time of year to start planning chic, beachy getaways where you can still dip your feet into the refreshing cool water while wearing a long-sleeve shirt tucked into a pair of khaki shorts, and layered with a cable-knit shawl-collar cardigan; a perfect waterfront vacation without being swallowed up by the sweltering heat thus ending the short-lived lives of your newly-bought leather boat shoes.

We recently stumbled upon SWIMS’ water shoe collection, and instantly fell in love with their truly versatility and functionality that is also quite elegant and fashionable. SWIMS, founded back in 2006 in Oslo, Norway with just galoshes; protective rubber footwear worn over regular shoes to combat against wet and harmful elements in nature. Within 10 years, SWIMS had expanded into many categories such as apparel, accessories, and their ever-so-popular water-friendly loafers. These are definitely not your average rubber water shoes; think of classic stylish Bally loafers that could soak in water and are machine-washable, comfortable, functional, and practical.

Upgrade yourself from wasting luggage space having to pack an extra pair of flip-flops with your regular shoes because you definitely have to change them out while at the beach to prevent ruining your leather loafers or boat shoes. SWIMS loafers are built with an anti-bacterial mesh liner and ventilation gills to allow for breathability and water drainage so you can hose them off and remove all dirt or sand particles trapped within. But what about walking on that high-polished slippery deck in these shoes? I have slipped many times with classic boat shoes and was quite afraid that I might have scratched the wood flooring even from just walking around due to the thick and inflexible plastic soles.

SWIMS soles are very malleable and comfortable against the wearer’s foot with also anti-slip grip technology, it was a win-win situation between the wearer and the wood flooring, similar to having a yoga mat placed between the two. SWIMS loafers can definitely be the perfect transitional shoe for that dock-and-dine lifestyle or from the water to the white-attire garden dinner hosted by your neighbors every day in the Hamptons.
